Reduta Building in Bratislava

bct | 11. October 2024

Reduta building in Bratislava is the considerable representative building and it is among the prettiest sights in the city. It was built between 1913 and 1915. Yet it was not until 1919 that the final decorative touches had been completed. A construction used progressive technology: reinforced iron and concrete structure was overlaid inside and outside with historizing architectural elements.

Because of the rich ornaments of the Reduta building used to be compared in the past to Zwinger in Dresden. The building was first property of the city, serving social functions and as a casino. Since the early 1950s it is the seat of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra with a concert hall seating 700.

Representative events held at the Reduta Building

Reduta Building holds every year the most prestigious events of Slovakia, like inauguration of president of Slovakia or during Slovakia presidency of European Union, Reduta Building in Bratislava was a headquarters of Slovakian presidency and all the major press conferences took a place here.
